Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MFT Programs does with information about the people who visit it. The short version is that this is a static reference site about accredited marriage and family therapy programs. It has no accounts, first-party forms, or anything to log in to, so there is very little for us to collect directly. Pages do include labeled sponsored program listings supplied by eSY, a third-party education enrollment marketing service.

What this site collects automatically

Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs when it sends you a page. Labeled sponsored listings also load a script from eSY's servers, so eSY may receive the same basic request and device information when that listing loads. This information can include:

• Your IP address, and the approximate region it resolves to
• The browser and operating system making the request
• The page requested, and the page that referred you to it
• The date and time of the request

We use our server logs to keep the site running and identify abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you or combine them with information from elsewhere. eSY's handling of data received through its script is governed by its own policies and the policies shown with a sponsored listing.

What this site stores in your browser

Our own browser storage amounts to one item. When you use the light and dark toggle, your choice is saved in local storage under the key theme so the site does not flash the wrong colors on your next visit. It is not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic such as page views, approximate location, referring sites, and browser or device type. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser technologies for that measurement. We do not use session recording. The eSY sponsored-listing script may also use cookies or similar technologies to deliver listings, measure interactions, and attribute requests for information. Your browser settings can restrict or remove that storage; blocking analytics does not prevent the site from working, although restricting eSY storage may affect a listing's operation.

Information you send us

Anything you send directly to us arrives by email, because there is no first-party contact form on this site. If you write to us we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with what you asked about, and we use it for nothing else. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list. Information entered through a sponsored listing is submitted to eSY and/or the school identified in that listing, not to our editorial team; review the notice shown there before submitting it.

Who we share information with

We share the limited data we collect directly only with our hosting provider, which processes requests on our behalf to serve the site, and with anyone we are legally required to disclose it to under a valid legal process.

We do not sell the personal information we collect directly. Sponsored listings are third-party placements: if you choose to request information through one, the details you submit may be shared with the school so it can respond, and this site may receive compensation for that request. Merely reading our editorial program directory does not submit your contact details to a school.

Links to schools and other sites

Every school on this site is linked to its own pages, its accreditor record, and where it exists its published outcome table. Sponsored listings are supplied by eSY and are labeled “Sponsored.” Following an editorial link, clicking a sponsored listing, or submitting a request there takes you into services we do not control and whose privacy practices are their own. Read the applicable notice before you send them anything.

How long we keep things

Retention follows purpose. Server logs are kept only as long as our host retains them for operational and security reasons. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful for handling your request and deleted when it is not, unless we are required to keep it for longer.

Your rights over your information

Your rights depend on where you live, and in several places, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California, they include the following:

• Asking what personal information we hold about you
• Asking us to correct information that is wrong
• Asking us to delete information we hold
• Objecting to a particular use of your information

Write to help@hakia.com to exercise any of them. Given how little we hold, the honest answer to most requests will be that we have nothing beyond the email you sent us.

Children and this site

Children are not the audience here. This site is aimed at people choosing a graduate program, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to help@hakia.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

This policy will change if our practices do, and the last updated date above moves with the files behind the page rather than being typed in by hand. Substantive changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
